INTRODUCING Nurturing Connections in Reading: Level A
When I began Nurturing Connections Homeschool, my heart was to encourage mothers to connect with God and their family in order to create a joyful and loving atmosphere of learning. Every resource and post I share seeks to support this vision, and Nurturing Connections in Reading, my beginning reading curriculum, is no different.
Connect with God
In Nurturing Connections in Reading-Level A, children are introduced to the letters of the alphabet, along with rhyming couplets that introduce them to all the wonderful things God has made. In the included Rhyme & Coloring Pages, children will be introduced to a number of animals, insects, foods, landforms, and more as they engage with new learning topics centered on each letter of the alphabet. Each page has the letters to trace, a rhyming couplet, and a variety of activities to do!
The curriculum also recommends selecting an alphabet devotional to use throughout the year, such as “Big Thoughts for Little People.” This particular book encourages discussion and connection with simple questions, fun artwork, and meaningful scriptures. It also offers inspiration for further connection and discussion throughout the day.
Connect with Family
The curriculum is truly an open-and-go experience. Apart from the initial preparation of printing, possibly binding, laminating and cutting, there is nothing else to prepare. The curriculum also uses a simple set Alphabet Letters and typical school supplies, so it does not require extensive manipulatives or additional expenses.
Simply open to the next lesson, read the simple set of directions, and enjoy the activities with your little one. The activities are hands-on and engaging, designed to create meaningful and memorable learning experiences for you and your child.
Less prep also means more time for connection and enjoyment of the learning process. Less planning means you have more time to focus on what matters most.
Connect with Learning
Learning is most meaningful when it is connected and integrated. Nurturing Connections in Reading uses a multi-sensory approach, supporting the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learner. It also provides systematic, step-by-step instruction and practice in order to set your child up for success in reading.
Brain-based activities and approaches are used throughout the lessons in fun and engaging ways to introduce the letters of the alphabet, along with their most common sounds. By the end of the 140 lessons, children will be able to read and write more than 35+ words.
